Abstract

This publication features three previously unpublished screenplays by Kira Muratova, Yevhen Holubenko, and Serhii Chetvertkov, which were intended for Muratova's direction but were never realised. Even in the speculative form of these “films without images,” the texts enable us to recover the characteristic motifs of Muratova’s cinematic universe: its playful dimension; its fascination with the impenetrable mystery of the Other and the proliferation of false appearances; and its clear-sighted observation of human cruelty.
